LIRC

LIRC (Linux Infrared Remote Control) is a package that allows you to send and receive infrared signals from many remote controls. The package consists of many parts, but the most important being the lircd daemon, which receives the infrared signals, and irexec which executes programs or commands upon receiving signals from the lircd daemon.
